Electronic cigarettes are like regular cigarettes, one size does not fit all. The pen style is a bit longer, however, the battery lasts longer and you can get a cigarette or two more out of the cartridge. It does look like you are auditioning for a remake of Breakfast at Tiffany's though so your husband, might not like it.

The mini or super cigarette, is smaller and looks like a cigarette. This is what I use and I love it.

The nicotine cartridge lasts between 6-10 cigarettes. You can purchase different strengths and different flavors of nicotine. Once you get really comfortable, you can buy bottles of e-liquid and even refill your own cartridges (extremely easy and really cost effective).

Other than that, the throat hit is realistic, the consuming sensation you feel in your lungs is fulfilling and the outgoing vapor is great. You can blow smoke rings, you can french inhale, you can hold in a little bit longer to help it evaporate a little faster (good on a plane).

Another note on the plane: As with anything that you do in public that might set off bells, if you get a super/mini cigarette, you can cup the entire e-cig in your hand, like a cowboy. If you blow the vapor towards your feet and not up into the air, it will probably go unnoticed. And again, practicing to get yourself comfortable with it is a good idea.

Some recognizable company came out with smokeless cigarettes a few years ago. (I forget which one, I want to say Camel) It was a cool novelty, but tasted like smoking an old tire. And I would seriously doubt they let you use that on a plane.
