			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div><br/><br/>All smokers are fully aware of the devastating effects that smoking has on the body. I was a smoker for 15 years, and this list is not designed to scare all the smokers out there, although it just might.<br/><br/>1. The smokers cough. If you have smoked for any length of time you will have the smokers cough. You may think this is an inconvenience if your a smoker, and most smokers try to hide it. This cough is actually your body trying to get rid of the poisonous fumes you are inhaling on a daily basis. It is the sound of your lungs expelling all the chemicals in tobacco smoke. This is a good thing for your body all though you may not think so.<br/><br/>2. Stained teeth. After smoking for so long I was well aware of my yellow stained teeth. I got into the habit of smiling with my mouth closed, a lot of smokers do this. Sure, you can go and get your teeth whitened these days, but sooner or later the stains will be back if you continue to smoke.<br/><br/>3. Yellow fingers. This is basically the same problem as stained teeth. I used to rotate my finger when smoking so one would not get stained too much. If you smoke roll ups this problem will be even worse. No amount of scrubbing will get rid of it, the only solution is to stop using the same finger.<br/><br/>4. Shortness of breath. I always played a lot of sport even though I smoked. As the years went by I found I always started coughing after any kind of physical exercise. Your lung capacity is reduced by smoking. I found that I could not hold my breath for very long. One of the worst experiences I had was during a physical test for work. You know the kind I mean, when you have to blow into a meter to test lung capacity, and you just know that your attempt will be well below average. You then get a read out that tells you that you have the lungs of a 50 year old, and your only 35.<br/><br/>5. Circulation problems. Smoking blocks arteries and reduces blood flow. I always seemed to feel the cold, especially in my feet. If I got into a hot bath when my feet were cold it caused a lot of pain. Smoking can also lead to varicose veins and impotence.<br/><br/>6. Grey complexion. You can tell a heavy smoker from the way their skin looks. They look grey and paler than non smokers. Smoking makes your skin age quicker. You may not think this is a problem when you are young, but you will see the effects of cigarette smoking when you get older. You are starving your skin of essential nutrients.<br/><br/>7. Lack of energy. I always thought I did not suffer from this problem. At the age of 36 I was a keen sportsman and ran regularly, I liked to keep fit. Sounds a bit stupid doesn&#8217;t it, I mean I smoked 20 cigarettes a day and I sort of blanked my mind from what I was doing to my body by smoking. It was only when I stopped smoking that I found I had so much more energy. I would wake up in the morning feeling completely awake, when I smoked I had to drag myself out of bed. I also found I could run further and faster. The reason is that when you smoke you are starving your body of oxygen, and this leads to a lack of energy.<br/><br/>8. Dry mouth. I used to wake up in the morning with a mouth that felt like sandpaper. I wondered how my tongue could be so dry. You just get used to this effect, and it gets worse the longer you smoke. It makes your breath smell and you don&#8217;t even care.<br/><br/>9. Taste and smell. When you smoke you gradually lose the ability to smell things properly and your taste buds don&#8217;t work like they used to. When I stopped smoking I found these two senses returned very quickly, making meals much tastier. You will smell of tobacco smoke if you smoke, but you can&#8217;t tell. Just try smelling your clothes after a night out in the company of smokers when you don&#8217;t smoke. This is what you smell like all the time.<br/><br/>10. Dizzy spells. If I got out of the bath too quickly I would get funny bright lights in my head. It was a strange sensation, and it affects some smokers more than others. Most people will get dizzy spells if they sit upright quickly, but a smoker will feel more dizzy because they have less oxygen in their bodies.<br/><br/>This list does not include the most common cigarette smoking effects on the body such as lung cancer, heart disease and the many others. These are added bonuses you can expect if you smoke. Most smokers don&#8217;t think they will contract these diseases. I just blanked my mind to them when I smoked. The reality is that 1 in 2 smokers will die from their addiction if they continue to smoke.<br/><br />

Even smoking half of a cigarette a day is very damaging to your body. Let&#8217;s take a closer look at smoking and weight loss.<br/><br/>Nicotine is a drug, and those who smoke it are drug addicts. With each puff, smoking coats the lungs with tar and other poisons.<br/><br/>The lungs of a smoker are not able to take in a full breath of air because they are so clogged by toxic cigarette tar. Over 559 additives are used to produce cigarettes. Over 4,000 different chemical compounds are produced by a burning cigarette.<br/><br/>Some people insist on continuing their smoking habit because they cannot bear the thought of gaining an extra pound or two when they quit smoking. But the truth is, only a fraction of the people who quit smoking gain weight.<br/><br/>Besides, the weight that is gained when quitting smoking does not show up for a few months anyway. This means that if a person were to quit smoking, he would have at least two months to start eating well and performing a regular exercise routine before the weight would show on his body.<br/><br/>And if a person did this, the weight would not show on his body anyway. So, stop smoking and start hitting the gym instead.<br/><br />

But, if there was a universal panacea then still that individual would need a strong desire to achieve that goal. You can lead the horse to the water trough but you are not going to make him drink. He will do that only when he is good and ready.<br/><br/>I cannot emphasise this enough. You must well and truly make your mind up whether or not you want to stop smoking. All the stop smoking methods in the world will not have the slightest influence on you until you have done this. Once you are &#8216;prepared&#8217;, then you can get on with the business of seeking out a method.<br/><br/>I can only suggest that you choose one that you think will serve you best as an individual. Apart from the ones mentioned above you also have gums, inhalers, lozenges, acupuncture, laser, capsules, electronic cigarettes, herbal mixtures and potions. They are the main batch and plenty to choose from.<br/><br/>You will be perplexed when you scan them all so take your time and don&#8217;t make any rash decisions. Better to make an informed choice than just gamble on it. Even then, there is no real guarantee of success. This is why I stress that you must be careful in telling yourself that you have a strong desire to stop smoking. If you are ready to make that all important move, then you will have a much stronger chance of success. Go for it!<br/><br />

Are there any sites out there that just tell the truth in a way that is easy to understand? I believe there are a couple, but we&#8217;ll get to that later.<br/><br/>What are the scientifically studied ways to stop smoking, those ways that have unbiased published research backing up their claims? It is one thing to say, &#8220;take our product and we guarantee success&#8221;, but if there&#8217;s no science to back those claims, then you really have to question it. Anyone can claim success, but how many can show you their records? So lets begin.<br/><br/> 1) Chantix <br />Chantix is a fairly new product that boasts a pretty good success percentage. It is somewhere around 20%. The makers describe it as more of a program, rather than a simple &#8220;pill&#8221; for stop smoking.<br/><br/> 2) Zyban (Bupropion) <br />Zyban is an anti-depressant which has some anti-smoking properties. It also works by addressing some of the depression found in smokers.<br/><br/> 3) Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) <br />Found in this category are things like gum/lozenges, the patch, nasal sprays, and inhalers. These have roughly the same success rate as Zyban.<br/><br/> 4) Cold Turkey <br />Here the person just decides to quit all on their own without any help. Its success rate is the smallest of any of the above listed. Cold turkey really is the hardest method for people, because it requires nothing but will power. This is why people who quit cold turkey, have the highest relapse rate.<br/><br/> 5) Hypnosis/Acupuncture <br />These two methods, although not considered frontline or traditional methods, do work for some people. However, the success rate isn&#8217;t what you might expect. Most experts agree the success rates are similar to quitting cold turkey.<br/><br/>Here they are, essentially, five proven ways to stop smoking as found in the medical literature. However, there is one more method that can dramatically improve these success rates. In fact, this one method has roughly a 20+% success rate when used all by itself, as published in the scientific literature. Before you discount these words as someone trying to sell you something, realize that it isn&#8217;t stored on shelves and isn&#8217;t delivered on brown UPS trucks. This should tell you right away, that it&#8217;s not some kind of product described in my opening.<br/><br />

Some internet research later and I discovered that electronic cigarettes are very much a quickly growing concern. A Google search revealed there is no smoke without fire as almost six million results just for the phrase &#8220;electronic cigarette&#8221; were returned.<br/><br/>What is an electronic cigarette?<br/><br/>The electronic cigarette has been in existence for almost three years and is a clever device aimed at providing smokers with a healthier option. Apparently also useful in helping to reduce and indeed quit smoking altogether.<br/><br/>Now in a fourth generation, electronic cigarettes have become much more user friendly than earlier versions which perhaps were a little too large to encourage a mass market appeal. The &#8220;mini&#8221; is the most realistic e cigarette to date with its length of 100mm being the same as a conventional cigarette.<br/><br/>An electronic cigarette contains a taste of tobacco but none of the harmful substances found in normal cigarettes allowing smokers cravings to be satisfied without inhaling the many dangerous toxins. Is it all smoke and mirrors? Or can this item really be the saviour it wants to be?<br/><br/>A battery, an atomiser and a renewable nicotine chamber allows the smoker to hold and smoke the electronic cigarette just as they would any other cigarette, even creating a &#8220;smoke&#8221; like vapour and glow at the end as they draw. The nicotine chamber proves very useful as cartridges are available in different strengths, permitting the user to reduce the amount of nicotine they intake until if they wish, can quit completely.<br/><br/>A nicotine cartridge typically lasts the same time as 15 to 20 cigarettes, thus creating a huge saving to normal costs. Standard, medium, low and no nicotine at all are the various cartridge strengths.<br/><br/>A healthier option altogether it seems, though the benefits don&#8217;t end there. Due to the electronic cigarette not emitting any dangerous substances, toxins or real smoke for that matter, they are perfectly legal to smoke in public. In winter in particular, normal cigarette smokers have to brave the freezing cold and the rain just for a quick smoking break but this alternative will allow them to stay in their offices, restaurants and pubs.<br/><br/>None smokers also will benefit, as their worries about passive smoking are rendered null and void by the <a href="http://www.aboutelectriccigarettes.com/recommends/smoke_assist_electronic_cigarette" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='Stop Smelling Like An Ash tray, Use The Healthier Alternative To Tobacco Cigarettes...';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">electronic cigarette</a>. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div><br/><br/>Situation assessment<br/><br/>Every smoker tries to quit smoking at least once in their lifetime. For some, the first time is the last time and they never touch another cigarette. For others it is the beginning of a long period of self-resentment and guilt trips.<br/><br/>Indeed, not many experiences can rival failed attempts to quit smoking, in its ability to make a person feel bad, worthless and totally out of control. The first time the attempt fails, it&#8217;s not a big deal. The second time is followed by tiny pang of regret. The third time causes a person to start questioning their resolve. The fourth time comes with a shocking realization of just how little control we can have over our own bodies. And without exception, this is encouraged by people/books/websites that give advice to smokers. &#8220;Punish yourself for smoking, reward yourself for not smoking,&#8221; is a commonly heard tip. &#8220;Put yourself in a situation where you can&#8217;t smoke,&#8221; is another. I won&#8217;t even comment on the &#8220;Use electronic cigarettes/nicotine patches&#8221; tip &#8211; do these people think smokers can fool their bodies so easily?<br/><br/>These tips never last. If a person successfully quits smoking, rest assured, it&#8217;s not because of these tips. Why do these tips not work? Because they&#8217;re barbaric. Nobody would recommend you to beat your kid, in order to raise him/her. No pet expert will ever recommend you beat your dog/cat, in order to teach it some discipline. No conquered country ever embraced occupants. In the same vein, self-hating punitive methods can not help in quitting smoking.<br/><br/><strong>The way to results</strong><br/><br/>Quitting is actually very easy. It may sound a little cliche, but the trick is to want it. Do you want to quit smoking? Not because mom wants it, or your wife wants it, or because your friends want it. Do you feel like you smoke too much?<br/><br/>If you identify that you truly want to quit smoking, then suddenly it is not a problem. Start by lowering the amount you smoke a day. I used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day until I realized I want to stop. Overnight I minimized my smoking to a pack a week.<br/><br/>Keep lowering the amount you smoke in incremental steps. When you feel comfortable with the amount you smoke, see if you can lower it some more, then get used to it. After a few weeks of smoking a pack per week, I lowered my amount to a cigarette per week. Then per month. Then &#8211; you can guess it &#8211; I stopped completely.<br/><br/>One important thing to keep in mind is &#8211; never punish yourself for smoking. Would you punish yourself for having messy hair on a Monday, or for falling and breaking a leg? It&#8217;ll do you no good. If you suddenly get a craving to smoke &#8211; go for it. Smoke a cigarette. And while you smoke, think about how it makes you feel and if it&#8217;s really worth it. If it feels worth it, then that&#8217;s because it is (at the moment).<br/><br/>By not approaching your smoking habit angrily, you will succeed at lowering the amount you smoke, even if you don&#8217;t quit outright. And quitting is just one step from there.<br/><br/>The trick is to think of it as lowering the amount you smoke, because you feel like it. No more, no less.<br/><br/>Good luck!<br/><br />

Most smokers have tried on several occasions to quit, without success. This is because nicotine addiction is one of the most difficult of all addictions to beat. It takes a lot of willpower to cope with the side effects of giving smoking up, because these are many and varied. Mostly the side effects are psychological, but some of them are actually physical. On the premise that to be forewarned is to be forearmed, I give you some of the more common side effects below.<br/><br/> Chesty cough. Ulcers of the mouth. Headaches. Dizziness. Decrease in blood sugar levels, leading to cravings for sweet foods. Depression. Insomnia, leading to daytime tiredness. Feeling of restlessness. Concentration difficulties. Irritability. <br/><br/>As I stated above, these are some of the most common side effects, there are more less common ones, but they are too numerous to mention. Is it any wonder that most people fail numerous times before becoming successful in giving smoking up?<br/><br/>To be successful you need to be 100% serious in your approach. You must accept the fact that you are going to experience some level of discomfort, for some people this will be a trip to hell and back! But, please believe me when I tell you that these side effects will eventually pass.<br/><br/>Do not be tempted to look for physical support to get you through this period of discomfort. When I refer to physical support I mean NRT (nicotine replacement therapy), I say this because although in the short term, patches, gums, electronic cigarettes and the like might seem to work, in the long term they generally do not.<br/><br />

If you take a peek on a search engine you will be flooded with &#8216;best advice.&#8217; Of course they are showing their wares to you and all of them trying to grab your attention with the message that their item is the one to consider.<br/><br/>Okay, you have to start somewhere so, start. What I advise is that you have a good look at the &#8216;spread&#8217; instead of stopping at the first one. The trick is having a good look at a fair number of what&#8217;s on offer. Have a points system based on your priorities. Sort of like buying a house or a car. Don&#8217;t rush in. You can always come back.<br/><br/>Okay, let&#8217;s see here. We have the patches, gums, inhalers, lozenges, acupuncture, laser, capsules, shots (injections), hypnotherapy, electronic cigarettes, herbal mixtures and potions. I have probably missed one or two obscure ones but you get the picture.<br/><br/>Easy, all you have to do now is choose and have a good life. I would like to advise or recommend but that is not why am here. On top of which, I may have my own preferences that you would not necessarily help you.<br/><br/>I was there once and I know what it is like. You just want to make sure the one you choose is right for you. Well of course you do! It&#8217;s a maze out there and you just have to keep going until you see that opening. This is real life!<br/><br/>The thing is, if you do keep on looking, you increase the odds dramatically for cracking it. I can say this hand on heart because I have done it many times. It&#8217;s almost like magic when it happens, but when it does, well done you! It has simply happened because you made it happen. Happy hunting!<br/><br />
